Independent Unionist North Down MLA Alex Easton has made a strong appeal for NHS Dentists in his constituency.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

There is a need for more NHS dentists in my North Down constituency. That’s the simple fact of the matter.

Constituents have been articulating their concerns to me sadly on a regular basis about this problem which must be made right.

We know from the British Dental Association that Northern Ireland has the worst oral health inequalities in the UK that’s a matter we must arrest and reverse.

I want to support dentists with cost-effective focused regulation – where their bureaucracy is efficiently streamlined to allow them to do what they do best namely improve the oral health of the population.

I will press the Minister on this matter specifically for an audit of what is required and for a strategy for achieving adequate numbers of NHS dentists.”
