Alex Easton MLA has called for the footpaths in Bangor town center to be replaced due to the lack of grip when wet.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

I have been made aware if this as an issue for some time, the footpaths put in place under the public realms scheme. while attractive are actually a hazard they are not safe. Anytime it rains these specific paving stones become a huge hazard. I am aware of many people slipping and falling coming out of shops or just walking along. The footpaths are just a hazard and not fit for purpose and need to be replaced. I know a huge amounts of money was spent on the paths but the reality peoples health and well-being are more important than a pretty looking footpath in our town center. I am calling on DFI and Council to look at this before anyone else does get hurt, the paths just don’t have any grip for pedestrians when it rains and that’s just the simple fact.”
