Alex Easton MLA has again called for TNI, and the Education Authority to take joint action to resolve the dangerous traffic issue on the Albany Road when leaving and collecting children.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“I have been approached so many times about concerns about the safety of parents and children having to negotiate the traffic and parking on the Albany Road when taking and collecting their children from the school. The parking issues are a horrendous nightmare for residents, parents and children attending Ballymagee Primary School in the mornings and collecting in the afternoon. “
“There is a simple solution to the problem if TNI and the Education Authority came together to jointly do works to put in parking bays on the school side of the Albany Road along the length of the school which would mean moving the fence back several feet. This would mean there would be parking bays for parents to use, when dropping their children off and collecting and would allow the Albany Road traffic to flow better and not cause traffic chaos for everyone. The safety of the Parents, children and residents are paramount, and I will be contact both the Education Authority and TNI to ask for a joint initiative to take the issue seriously before somebody gets hurt.”
