Alex Easton MLA has welcomed a reply to a letter he had written requesting a site visit by the DAERA Minister to visit Millisle to discuss a scheme that is much needed for Millisle.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I very much welcome the plans to develop a Small Settlement Regeneration programme for settlements with populations of under 5000. I understand that the scheme is at the early stages which must include the Main Street alongside the Millisle Park Lagoon Project and Strand Avenue and Shore Road. The plan must have a consultation with the local community group and residents of Millisle and must ensure that it helps businesses and attract tourists to the area. I welcome the plan which will include partners such as the Council, DAERA and the Department of communities and I am delighted that my constant lobbying for something to be done for Millisle and also Groomsport is finally being listened to. I am disappointed the DAERA Minister won’t meet with me and the local community group as this would have helped to build relationships and trust as the project is driven forward.”
