Alex Easton MLA and Terry Malcolm Roads and footpath campaigned have both expressed concerns at the state of part of the pathway at Linear Parks entrance coming in from Nook Farm.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“As a regular walker in the area I have become increasing worried that the special surface at the Nook Farm end of Linear Park has become very unsafe. It appears to me that large elements of the pathway have become raised cracked with large chunks coming away from the footpath.”
“I believe this to be a major tripping hazard and could see someone fall or injure their legs, I am today calling on North Down Borough Council to urgently call out and inspect this section of pathway, with a view to take action to repair and fix this pathway before anyone gets hurt. It is the responsibility of North Down Borough Council to inspect the footpaths around Linear Park, and I am surprised the Council have not picked identified this major safety concern up especially as it has been there for some time, and is regularly used by walkers in the park!”
