Alex Easton MLA has today called on Ards and North Down Council to maintain their steps after coming across badly maintained steps at Springfield Avenue in the centre of Bangor.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“Having been on a walk about in the surrounding Hamilton road area, along with my colleague Alderman Wesley Irvine, we came across steps at Springwell Avenue which were badly maintained with a stone block having fallen of the steps wall and badly overgrown with vegetation. Not only is this a tripping hazard it could have fallen and injured a local resident in the area.”

“I am today questioning how often these steps are checked by the Council to ensure their safety for residents, and why grass is allowed to grow across some of the step surface ways and for parts of walls to fall down. It is important that there are scheduled inspections and that this set of steps is fixed as soon as possible.”
