North Down MLA Alex Easton is to ask Ards and North Down Council to consider proposals under consideration in Mid Ulster Council for warm social spaces in a bid to address spiralling heating costs and social isolation.

Speaking today Alex Easton said:

“We are facing twin challenges of high fuel costs and social isolation and the provision even on a limited basis of warm social space and an opportunity to meet and share conversation is a solution worthy of serious consideration.

I will ask our local council to consider plans already being discussed in mid Ulster and recommend achievable feasible proposals.

Loneliness is a major challenge of our time – combating it will have a major impact on health and well being – an initiative such as this has the potential to do just that.”
