Independent Unionist North Down MLA Alex Easton has made a strong appeal for NHS Dentists in his constituency.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

Speaking after numerous representations and complaints that have been made to him on the matter the local MLA stated;

“There is a need for more NHS dentists in my North Down constituency. That’s the simple fact of the matter.

Constituents have been articulating their concerns to me sadly on a regular basis about this problem which must be made right.

Look we know from the British Dental Association that Northern Ireland has the worst oral health inequalities in the UK that’s a matter we must arrest and reverse.

I want to support dentists with cost-effective focused regulation – where their bureaucracy is efficiently streamlined to allow them to do what they do best namely improve the oral health of the population.

I will press the Minister on this matter specifically for an audit of what is required and for a strategy for achieving adequate numbers of NHS dentists.”
