ALEX EASTON MLA WARNS COUNCIL NOT TO BE SO STUPID WITH PLANS TO POTENTIALLY CLOSE PLAYGROUNDS IN DONAGHADEE AND GROOMSPORT.
Alex Easton MLA has today called on the Council to ditch their latest strategy which could potentially see playgrounds in Donaghadee and Groomsport closing.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“The Council would be very foolish and stupid to attempt to close nay play park, while I accept there is a need to upgrade play parks I do not accept there is a need to close them especially when they are targeting Beechfield estate in Donaghadee which is AN AREA AT RISK as designated by the Department of Communities. We also have the same for the Play park at Springwell in Groomsport which the Council only in the last several years spent a lot of money on erecting a fence for children’s safety. Also at Pinks Green, and we know the Council was trying to sell the land at Pink Green, in Donaghadee years ago so there is also an agenda at play I believe. Any Councillor who backs this plan would be very foolish and I urge the Council not to take away these facilities, which give our children so much joy because once they are gone they are gone for good.”
