Alex Easton MLA has expressed shocked that the Housing Executive have had to spend £88,000 on removing Graffiti over the last two financial years.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am deeply shocked by the answer to my Assembly Written Question, which I had submitted to the DSD Minister on how much the Housing Executive has to spend to remove graffiti from its property’s across North Down. At a time when Departments are struggling to find money with cut backs the last thing the Housing Executive needs to be doing is to waste money removing Graffiti. This is money that could be spent in a better way such as providing homes or indeed doing essential repairs to infrastructure. Those responsible for graffiti need to wise up, and stop this as they are hurting the rate payers of North Down. I believe the only way to reduce incidents of graffiti is to have tougher fines imposed on those caught, and to impose community service on those and make them remove their handy work.
