Alex Easton MLA has today expressed deep concern at application has been made for the removal of 15 trees and works to be carried out to another 45 trees at High Trees in Donaghadee.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“These trees are the last few remnants’ of an ancient woodland that was once on the site, all efforts need to be made to ensure that no trees are cut down and indeed we see that there is a tree preservation order on seven of the proposed trees that are to be cut down. We have destroyed our ancient forest and wildlife and we must do everything in our power to save what woodland we have left and protect what we have left. I have written to DAERA, the Council and the Woodland trust on this issue and having visited the site, I feel that much of this work may not actually be necessary.”
