Alex Easton MLA has today expressed disgust at the Councils lack of maintenance of the Millisle War Memorial after receiving complaints from the public.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I have received several complaints about the state of the war memorial in Millisle and the failure by Council to maintain it to a satisfactory condition. The flowerbeds have not been planted around the War memorial, the paving leading to the War Memorial needs power washed and cleaned, and stones removed from the floor, the flag Poll could also do with being painted. I have emailed the Council about all these issues and must express disgust that I should have to, as the Council should be maintaining our War Memorials on a regular basis and I should not be having to email a complaint from residents. We are coming up to the 1st of July and the commemoration of the Somme in the First World War and it is vital the Council act on this issue quickly.”
