Alex Easton MLA today welcomed an update from Council on its efforts to plant more trees across the Ards and North Down council area.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

I don’t often praise the Council but on one of those rare occasions I am delighted to see that roughly 28,000 trees will have been planed over the last two year period. Obviously the vast majority appear to be in Council maintained or owned areas which is good, however I want to see new woodlands being created and land being used that private landowners would agree to being used. I firmly believe the creation of woodland protects our animal population and also helps people with mental health issues, if we could only create schemes were we use our schools and our children to take ownership we could do so much more, but in the whole well done to the Council.”
