Alex Easton MLA has today called on DFI and Rivers Agency to build an effective river defense along Grandmere Park after homes were flooded during the recent storm.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“Having been out in Grandmere on Friday and having received several emails I was able to see the damage caused by flooding to several homes. It would appear to me that not only the River flooded but the drains were blocked and had need be cleared in recent times by DFI. Some houses were having to through their carpets and flooring a work was underway to repair the damage done. I am looking at what package can be put together to help with financial support from the Department of Community’s and to also put pressure on DFI and Rivers agency to ensure that in future were there is risk of flooding drains are clear and also look at a defensive wall along this part of the Ballyhome River to ensure Grandmere Park is not flooded again, lessons need to be learned.
