Alex Easton MLA gives a cautious welcome to potential plans for a Hydro pump storage scheme to generate electricity at the Craigantlet reservoirs.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I give a cautious welcome these proposals but would like to see any plans being made public for people to be consulted about such proposals, I would also want assurance that looking fishing groups will still have access to the reservoirs for fishing, especially the implication that going forward there is more expectation of maintaining these water bodies for future resilience of water supply….. The suggestion of tree planting is of particular interest and I would urge the department to set about achieving this sooner rather than later, so the trees can be maturing from here on in, increasing biodiversity and shelter for wildlife from day.”
