Alex Easton MLA has today challenged either Andrew Muir MLA or Stephen Farry members of the Alliance Party to a one on one public debate on the proposed closure of the Ards and Bangor Minor Injury Unit.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

I am passionate about this and know the public want to keep the MIUs open, unfortunately the Alliance Party are giving political cover to the Management of the SE Trust using the Bengoa Report as a justification for the proposed closures. However we have exposed the SE Trust as this is all down to the SE Trust having to save 14 Million pounds and the Minor Injury units are an easy touch for them to pick off. The amazing facts are the U TURN of both the Alliance Party and indeed Andrew Muir MLA who fought tooth and nail to save the Bangor Minor injury until in 2014. What has changed since 2014 and now why the U-turn and why now. I believe the public have a right to hear from me and either Andrew Muir MLA or Stephen Farry MP on a one on one public meeting, were we can both set out our stalls and allow the public to ask us questions on our different positions. If the Alliance come back to me with a yes, then lets do this I can book a community facility, and allow the public to decide.
