Alex Easton MLA has today called on the Health Minister to speed up the process for the creation of a Health & Care Centre for Bangor.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
I have been pushing this issue for some time and am delighted that plans for a new Primary and community care Centre are included in the Primary Care Infrastructure Draft Strategic Implementation plan. I believe it is high time that Bangor be prioritised for a Health & Care Centre, with the ever increasing size of the population and Bangor being the third largest town in Northern Ireland it is vital that we provide the best range of services for Health that we can. A Health Care Centre will be determined by local need and would include a whole range of services coming together under one roof. Diagnostics Imaging District Nursing/Specialist Nurses Health Visiting Social Care for Older People Children Centre (including CAHMS) Dentistry Allied Health Professionals – Physiotherapy, Podiatry, OT, SLT Cancer Health and Wellbeing Centre One Stop Assessment Voluntary Groups I hope that this can become possibility in the future as I believe a Health & Care Centre would take some of the pressure from our Accident & Emergency Departments and allow people to be treated quicker and more effectively in their own town by their GPs, I have written to the Health Minister and the Chief Executive of the South Eastern Trust on the matter for further updates
