Alex Easton MLA has called for Council, DRD Minister and Finance Minister to create a range of measures to help businesses in Holywood, Bangor and Donaghadee during the period of the public realms works to help local businesses.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“As a supporter of the public realms work that has already started in in Holywood, it is vitally important that while the work is ongoing, that we look to see what can be done to look after and protect our local businesses in Holywood, Bangor and Donaghadee during the period that the work is ongoing. To help our local businesses while the public realms work continues I would call for the DRD Minister and Council to allow free car parking charges for the period of the work, to protect and help local businesses as it will help to attract shoppers during the period that works continues.”
“I am also calling for the Finance Minister to reduce business Rates for this financial year for businesses in Holywood, to also help local, businesses as part of a range of measures to help sustain local businesses that are affected by the Public Realms works within the Holywood, Bangor and Donaghadee areas. To this effect I will be writing to the Council, the DRD Minister and the Finance Minister on these issues and will submit an Adjournment to the NI Assembly for debate on the issue.”
