Alex Easton MLA has today called for a Pedestrian crossing for Moat Street, Donaghadee at the Eurospar after representation by residents.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“Moat Street, Donaghadee is probably one of the busiest roads we have in Donaghadee especially with traffic leaving and coming into Donaghadee as it is one of the main gateways into the town. Residents have approached me about a potential pedestrian crossing at the Euro Spar which also has the post office and is widely used and is an extremely busy area of Donaghadee. Donaghadee has expanded with new housing and more and more people who are coming to live in the town, this has created a burden on our roads and as a result has made it more dangerous to cross the road at the Eurospar on Moat Street, safety of residents is of the utmost importance and I have listened to the calls for a pedestrian crossing by the residents or even a pedestrian safety Islands. I have written to Transport NI about the issue to see what they plan they have to do something about this situation and ensure the residents of Donaghadee who are living in and around Moat street are safe.”
