Alex Easton MLA has declared a manhole cover owned by the Water Service to be a major danger and is threat to life in Linear Park.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“I went out to visit the site after an invite by a local resident Terry Malcolm who had come across the manhole cover after his dogs leg has fallen through a hole in the side of the structure. I was shocked to see that the whole concrete structure of the manhole cover was coming away from its base with large holes and cracks appearing around it edges.”
“It appears to me that it is only a matter of time that the whole manhole structure gives way and someone could fall in and be killed, while this manhole is on Council property at Linear Park it is the responsibility of NI Water to maintain and check these manhole covers, I have today contacted North Down Borough Council and NI Water to ask for urgent action to be taken to fix this extremely dangerous issue as a matter of urgency.”
