During a statement by the Justice Minister Alex Easton MLA asked about the future of the Lisnevin site, and it was confirmed that Lisnevin was to be sold.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“During a statement on the Prison Services Estates strategy the Justice Minister confirmed that the Lisnevin site at Millisle was surplus to requirement and would be sold. In many ways this statement will come as a relief to the residents of Millisle who were deeply concerned the site would be turned into a prison this should now give much needed relief to the villagers concerns.”
“The selling of the site may be some years away according to the estates strategy, but whoever buys the site the Justice Minister must maintain the main house which must be protected and there must be a consultation with the residents of Millisle as to its future.”
