Alex Easton MLA has today attending a Civic Reception at Ards and North Down Council and praised the local RLNI lifeboat stations and crews at Bangor, Donaghadee and Portaferry for 200 years of their formation and and for risking their own lives to save others.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“What an amazing achievement In 2024 we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the RLNI, together we mark the RNLI’s special 200th year of lifesaving and the bravery of the crews in Bangor, Donaghadee and Portaferry. 200 years is an amazing milestone for the RNLI, but everything they have achieved in that time has only been possible thanks to ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Since the RNLI was formed in 1824, people like you have formed crews and funded the kit and lifeboats to save lives at sea. RNLI lifesavers are counting on you to join us in our 200th year and we are proud to have you beside us saving lives and leading by example.
