Alex Easton MLA explains how the Jobs Fair idea came to Bangor was conceived.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“The idea of a Jobs Fair for Bangor started a year ago with the previous that we had put together in Kilcooley, which was a trial run to see how well it worked. At that time we were able to get over 100 real jobs for young people across North Down. It was with this in mind that I again approached local community organisations to ask if they would like to do another Jobs Fair but on a much bigger scale which would involve Newtownards and the Ards Peninsula.”

“After an initial meeting at Stormont with the Department of Learning, myself the kilcooley Community Forum, Ards Network, Bangor Chamber of Commerce, Kilcooley Women’s Centre and input from the Health Minister Simon Hamilton it was agreed to scope out the possibility of venues and employers who would be interested. A second meeting was arranged with the involvement of the Ards and North Down Council and community reps, and employer’s names and the venue of the Marine Court Hotel in Bangor was decided upon. I am now delighted that the jobs fair is to happen on the 25th February. These Jobs Fairs are really important for our young people, so I would urge people to come along as there are real job opportunities from many sectors available from engineering, health and retail jobs and many more. I would pay tribute to the people who organized this in partnership with myself, Simon Hamilton the Health Minister, Council, DEL, local community organizations and Bangor Chamber of Commerce.
