Alex Easton MLA has claimed a lot of the flooding that occurred was due to blocked drains across North Down.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“There was no doubt the weather has been atrocious and the the rainfall has ben pretty constant, which has led to the large level flooding that we have seen across North Down. However I feel that DFI roads were just not ready for this weather and there should have been forward planning were all drains and gully’s were free from blockages and able to help disperse the large amount of rainfall. Unfortunately much of the flooding has been caused by blocked drains which could have been prevented by forward planning, DFI really need to learn lessons from this as more bad weather is on its way and I trust they will.”
