Councillor Alex Easton was delighted after last Tuesdays nights Leisure and Tourism Committee meeting that there was unanimous backing for a 3G Pitch for Kilcooley.
Speaking today Alex Easton said:
“I have been working closely in partnership with the Kilcooley Sports Form and the Kilcooley Community Forum to progress this scheme, and we now have the backing of the department for Social development who will fund half this project and hopefully the rest of the funding will come from the Social Investments fund.”
“It was important that the project received the backing of North Down Borough Council to show community by in, and the convincing arguments put forward by the Kilcooley Sports Forum on such issues as the health and wellbeing and job opportunities that could develop out of this project. This impressed the Council and convinced them that this is a good proposal for the residents of Kilcooley.The Council will give their backing on helping to take the project forward with expertise on such issues such as Planning Permission and technical advice.”
