Around 10 million pensioners will lose their winter fuel payments under new plans announced by the labour chancellor. I won’t be supporting that say Easton.
Speaking today Alex Easton MP:
Let me be clear I will not be supporting plans by Labor to shaft out pensioners, I will urge the NI Assembly and Executive who have the power to go it alone as this is a devolved issue to continue with the winter fuel payments: I am also a staunch advocate for the triple lock on pensions. This vital guarantee ensures that the state pension increases annually by the highest of inflation, average earnings growth, or 2.5%. I believe this approach is both fair and proportionate, reflecting the integrity our pensioners deserve.
As the MP for North Down, I view the triple lock as non-negotiable. It is essential that we protect the financial security of our elderly citizens, ensuring they receive the support they need and have earned over a lifetime of hard work. I will continue to fight for this commitment to our pensioners and uphold their rights.
