Alex Easton MLA has today welcomed Ards and North Down Council commitment to plant 160,000 trees across the Ards and North Down Council area.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am passionate about trees and we have some good woodland but unfortunately we fall behind in tree coverage compared to the rest of the United Kingdom and Europe. I was delighted by the recent email which the Council has now committed to plant 160,000 trees across the Council area. I want to see North Down get their fair share and ensure North Down starts planting and expanding their woodlands and creating new woodlands.”

“ I am looking forward for a detailed plan by the Council on how many trees they intend to plant, their locations and what they plan to do to encourage private land owners to join in and plat trees, the advantages to our wildlife will be fantastic and also aid in improving the health of our environment.” Let’s get this done let’s see the Council lead the way”
