Alex Easton MLA has today called for further clarification from the MOD on the proposed closure of Kinnegar Army Base.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“While I understand the rational for this decision I do welcome that the Kinnegar Logistics Base will move to Palace Barracks and that the former site will be used to build new homes. However there has been no comment or clarification on the jobs front, will all jobs be kept with this move, will civilian staff be kept in their jobs or will there be a reduction in staff. These are vital questions that the MOD needs to clarify. There is no point in putting out a statement that the base will close and move to Palace Barracks and that the site will be sold for housing without clarification on the staff front. I will be writing to the MOD to seek clarification on that front.”
