Alex Easton MLA has today paid tribute to Jim Lennon on his 100th birthday and also for being the last member and Veteran of the 8th Belfast Regiment that fought in the Second World War.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
Yesterday I had the honour and pleasure of attending Jim Lennon’s 100s Birthday. Jim Lennon fought in the Second World War with the 8th Belfast Regiment (known as the 12 mile snipers). This amazing man served at Dunkirk, and Burma. The Royal British Legion, The UDR Association and The Royal Artillery and Somme Memorial Flute Band marched to His apartment today and gave him a 100th Birthday salute at his home. This is a truly amazing man and I would like to pay tribute to him and all the veterans that have served us to preserve freedom and democracy across the world.”
