Alex Easton MLA has today given an update on the scandal of the selling of Portavoe Reservoir

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“Everyone is shocked and upset at the price that Portavoe Reservoir and land was sold for by NI Water. It is a ridicules low figure for what had 76 acres of ex public land. There was something just not right about the whole issue which is why I have taken steps to have the selling of Portavoe reservoir investigated by the NI Audit office and other Government Departments. I have written to the NI Audit office who have replied to state they are to conduct a review into the selling of Portavoe, this will mean a forensic analysis of the sale and the amount it was sold for by NI Water it will also have access to documentation. I have also written to the DEARA minister who has responded that they are looking into the issues raised to do with fishing, and trees. I have also written to the Infrastructure Committee who have written back to say they have asked for comment back on what has happened from other Government Departments. I have also written to the Infrastructure to ask for an enquiry but as usual I have yet to her from the Infrastructure Minister. I will continue to keep the public updated on this serious issue”
