Alex Easton MLA has expressed delight that DRD have finally agreed to safety measures at the Cotton Road, Newtownards Rd Junction.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“I am delighted after several years of fighting with the Road Service for safety measures for this extremely dangerous junction that DRD have finally agreed make the junction safer for pedestrians and car users. The residents of the Cotton will be delighted that there is to be a new footway link, and visibility improvements for the safety of car users coming out of the Cotton onto the bust Newtownards road. This is a welcome development which will hopefully happen in the 2015/2016 financial year.”

To ask the Minister for Regional Development for an update on proposed road safety measures for the junction at Newtownards Road and Cotton Road.
My Department has programmed a scheme to provide a footway link, together with a visibility improvement, at Cotton Road for delivery in the 2015/16 financial year, subject to the availability of funding and successful acquisition of the necessary land.
