Alex Easton MLA has expressed deep concern at the removal of street lighting on the Abbey Road, Millisle.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“I am deeply concerned to here that Transport NI street lighting division has removed some street lighting on the Abbey Road in Millisle. What I find baffling is that these light are at the boundary of Millisle and help mark the approach into Millisle from Newtownards. But more importantly they provide lighting for the access to Abbey Villa football club which is used daily and by many children and young people. This also provides lighting for cars coming out of Millbank a residential area and provides safety doe cars and pedestrians.”
“This is a rather foolish decision by someone in TNI and I am baffled as to the logic for their removal. These lights are needed for safety reasons and the safety of the residents and young people using the football facilities. I am today calling on TNI street lighting division to reinstate these lights as a matter of urgency.”
