Alex Easton MLA has today expressed deep concern as the Craigantlet junction scheme stalls due to lack of finance.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said;

“Everyone knows how busy the Craigantlet junctions are, and how dangerous they are, so it is extremely worrying that we are no further on with work being started despite years of plans and consultations with no ending in site as to what will happen to make the junctions safer for residents and motorists. I am deeply concerned at the answer to a NI Assembly questions which I had submitted, and had answered which seems to suggest that the £2.5m needed for the scheme that there is a lack of investment in the roads network as part of the current Budget process and this is holding this up.”

“The onus is on the Infrastructure Minister to press for this funding so that the road safety for our road network for the residents on North Down and beyond is a priority. I plan to raise this if possible in an Adjournment Debate at the NI Assembly if I can get it selected. This is to an important issue to be allowed to stall and the Infrastructure Minister must listen.”
