Alex Easton MLA is extremely disappointed to learn the extent of vandalism caused to bus shelters across North Down.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am extremely disappointed to see that that over the last two year period that 54 instances of damage to bus shelters across North Down have occurred due to vandalism.”

“Bus shelters are extremely important for our pensioners and school children to stay out of the rain and many community groups have worked so hard to obtain them for the resident’s right across North Down. It costs thousands of pounds to fix these bus shelters, which are needed by the local community.”

“The figure of 54 bus shelters being vandalism in this way is very disappointing especially as those that do the damage probably use them themselves. I am today calling on anyone who has any information on those that damage these valuable community assets, to pass the information onto the PSNI or Translink so they can be arrested and prosecuted by the courts. The sad thing is that this affects the whole community, and it is the rate payers that have to foot the bill to have them mended, there is nothing free in this life.”
