Alex Easton MLA has lambasted those Councillors who voted against a proposal at the Councils Community and Wellbeing Committee to not go ahead and close any children’s play parks and claims they are failing the children of North Down.
“That this council recognizes the great anger from residents regarding the proposed closure of Play Parks contained in this strategy – in noting the public opposition from residents in Donaghadee, Groomsport, Ballywalter and beyond this Council makes clear that it will NOT close any play parks as part of this strategy and that all recommendations that propose such actions are rendered null and void”
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“I just don’t understand some of the political parties in this current Council, when it is quite clear that thousands of people who they claim to represent have signed petitions and written letters to the Council who are not happy with the proposed playground strategy then why when it comes to the first opportunity to do away with proposed play park closures they failed to lift the treat of playground closures. I understand there will be another attempt to remove the threat of playground closures at the end of the month full council meeting, please do the right thing. I would urge the Alliance Party, Green Party and UUP to do the right thing by their constituents for a change.”
