Alex Easton MLA has called the proposed closure of the Ulster Banks Bangor branch in Holywood madness,
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“The decision by the Ulster bank to even consider closing the Ulster Bank Branch in Holywood as Utter madness and extremely short sighted.
There has been a bank at this site for decades and to use the excuse people are using internet banking is just excuse, and it is an excuse in my opinion, and is more about saving money than providing a service. Holywood is a large and expanding Town in Northern Ireland, it is in the centre of the Town and serves a growing elderly community who may not use Internet banking. Where are these customers going to go, Springhill in Bangor or Belfast which is some distance away especially for residents living round the centre of the town and further afield. I am writing to Ulster Bank to re-look at this decision and ask them to reverse it as it just does not make sense.
