Alex Easton MLA has called the sexual assault of a teenager girl as barbaric at the weekend and further second rape of another woman near coastal path in the Downshire Road area as devastating.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said.
“This is an appalling incident to hear that two woman has been sexually assaulted and raped in the centre of Bangor on Saturday evening and now on Tuesday. This sort of crime is barbaric and makes me really upset to think that this could happen to two young women right at the heart of Bangor.”
“I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward to the PSNI, and will be asking if the towns CCTV has picked up any vital information on these terrible incidents so that the individuals concerned can be brought before the courts as a matter of urgency.”
“I believe that we need to look at much tougher sentencing for this type of crime so that we send out a clear message that sexual assault will not be tolerated in our society and that it carries a heavy sentence!”
“My thoughts and prayers go out to both victims.”
