Alex Easton MLA has today called for a joined up data system for all dog charity’s and shelters to record dogs in their care on a central data base.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“The reason why I am today calling for a doggy data system to be used by all dog shelters, dog charity’s and government agency’s is so that when a dog has been lost and found by these organizations, there is currently no system in place for owners to be able to find their dog. Currently you have to phone up everywhere to see if your dog has been found and even though dogs are meant to be chipped, not all of them are and doggy charity’s don’t have access to that facility. So a general doggy data base that is universally available for the public to search would help keep tract of all dogs that are being cared for by what ever organization they might be in their care. I have written to the Permanent Secretary for DEARA to ask for this to be considered and believe it makes sense for all organizations and the public help with tracking and finding their owners.”
