Alex Easton MLA and Councillor Wesley Irvine on Friday met with senior management of 3m in Balloo Industrial Estate.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“This was an important visit to show as politicians that we are interested in our manufacturing base in North Down, but to visit one of the major employers in Bangor. We meet with Lynda Owens the plant manager who gave us a brief introduction to the 3M group, we then preceded to do a tour of 3M to see the process of making tape which was mind blowing with all the processes involved.”
“After the tour we met with staff and listened to the issues 3M are experiencing, the main problem being energy costs which see 3M having to spend 180 million pounds alone on energy. We went away with some ideas and views that we have promised to pursue on behalf of the 3M group and will do all we can to address those issues.”
“Both I and Councillor Irvine were very impressed at the work that 3M carry out and the employment they bring to Bangor and would thank them for the tour and discussions.”
