Alex Easton MLA has expressed alarm at the continues pollution incidents in our rivers and streams across North Down.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“The answers to my recent NI Assembly questions on pollution incidents across out rivers and stream across North Down is very concerning and frankly alarming. 49 incidents of pollution in two years are basically two pollution incidents every two months across at different rivers, streams and Loughs. This is ranging from oil spills, sewage and suspended solid incidents. What I want to know what is the Rivers Agency and the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency and Council doing to stop these incidents which are going on at an unacceptable level right across North Down effecting out wildlife and potential our drinking water. It’s time for more action to tackle this and those responsible help to account for their actions, its time to make an example of those who destroy out waterways:”
