Alex Easton MLA has called for the Bangor MIU to be opened to residents at the weekend as evidence clearly shows that the Ulster Accident and Emergency attendances go through the rough when the Bangor MIU is closed.
Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:
“There is clear evidence available that the Ulster Accident and Emergency becomes overwhelmed during period that the Bangor MIU is closed such as weekends. It makes sense for the SE Trust to look at these spikes in AE attendances and look at the causes, and then look at what can be done to alleviate the pressure. The evidence is clear that when the Bangor MIU when open takes the pressures of and it makes economical and medical senses to open the Bangor MIU seven days a week.”
