Alex Easton MLA has been given the top three footpath resurfacing priorities for North Down, in an NI Assembly written question.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am delighted to see that My Lady’s Mile, Holywood, Morston Park Bangor, and Bangor Seymour Park, Bangor are in the top three footpath resurfacing priorities. While welcoming the priority’s there are other areas across North Down that need footpaths resurfaced such as Fairfield Park and Glenarrif in Bangor which I will continue to campaign to have done.”

To ask the Minister for Regional Development to list the footpaths in North Down that requires resurfacing ranked in order of priority need. My Department’s programme of potential new footway schemes in the North Down area is continually assessed with individual schemes prioritised relative to each other. Programmes are prepared on the basis of a number of factors encompassing the road usage, general surface condition, structural deformation, public enquiries and public liability claims. However, it is necessary to regularly revise and reprioritise schemes for a wide range of reasons, for example, receipt of additional in year funding, notification of works by utilities etc. This, unfortunately, can result in some planned works being delayed longer than initially planned. At present, the three highest priority footways within North Down that require resurfacing are as follows: My Lady’s Mile, Holywood Morston Park, Bangor Seymour Park, Bangor
