Alex Easton MLA has expressed concerns at proposals by the Health Board to close Northfield House residential home in the long term.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“This is rather disappointing as we have seen Northfield House being run down over many years, while I am pleased that there has been a commitment that no residents currently living there will be moved or put out of their home, there still is the problems of what the plans are for residential care by the SE Trust, and the future of the staff this is unacceptable.”

“I have written to the CE of the SE Trust on the issue to seek clarification on the promise not to remove residents from their homes long as they want to live there, and the future of the staff and the SE Trust plans for residential care and what engagement will happen with residents, staff and the public. I also plan to do a petition calling on the Northfield House to remain open as I just don’t see how the SE Trust can cope with out Residential facility’s for the future.”
