Alex Easton MLA and Alderman Bill Keary have called for the play park at Springwell in Groomsport to be fenced in for safety of the children living in Springwell.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“This is an issue that was raised by the Groomsport Village Association at their AGM, the issue of the Springwell Play Park should be fenced in is a valid concern, especially as all New Play Park facilities are now fenced in to protect those that are using the facility.”

“We looked closely at the Springwell Play Park which is situated at the rear of homes at the car parking area. This lends itself to being dangerous as a car could potentially cause an accident, so we believe that it would be well worth while for healthy and safety reasons to enclose the play park and also distinguish between the Council owned property and the Housing Executive property. This will be discussed by my colleague Alderman Bill Keary at the Council.”
