Alex Easton MLA is pleased to hear that NIID have put on hold the proposed closure of Stewart Memorial Nursing Home.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I am pleased that after my meeting with the Chief Executive of NIID with some of my colleagues that NIID have kept their word and halted the process of closure of Stewart Memorial Nursing Home for discussions with staff, residents and family’s and MLAs to see if a way can be found round the current situation.”

“I firmly believe that this was the correct decision by NIID to take in light of the shambolic way the staff and residents have been treated. This does not mean that Stewart Memorial Nursing Home is safe yet, but it does mean that everyone can work together to find a way forward in a positive way to find solutions, there will be further engagements with both NIID and the SE Trust to see what can be done for hopefully a positive future for Stewart Memorial Nursing Home.
