Alex Easton MLA has joined forces with Bangor Chamber of Trade, Charter NI and the Department of Education and Learning to organise a Careers Fair to be held at the Kilcooley Community Centre on Thursday the 13th November from 9.30am to 4pm.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“This started several months ago with a meeting with Ken Sharpe from the Bangor Chamber of Trade, were we discussed what we could do to try and create some job opportunities for young people in North Down. We decided to have a meeting with Charter NI to discuss how we could get young people together and potential employers. This in turn led to a further meeting with the Department of Education and Learning and we agreed to go ahead and set up a jobs fair through Charter NI, DEL and Ken Sharpe from the Bangor Chamber of Trade.”

“We looked at venues and a time scale was agreed, to be held in the heart of the local community. We choose the Kilcooley Community Centre as we felt this was a large enough venue that would allow us to come to the young people, instead of them coming to us. The event will see a dozen local businesses come to interview young people with the potential for job placements and the potential for full time employment. The Department of Employment will also offer advice on job skills and interview technics on the day.”

“I am very excited about this event as it has never been done on such a scale, and I would say thank you to the Bangor Chamber of Trade, Charter NI and the Department of Employment and learning for all their help in setting this up. The event will be held all day at the Kilcooley Community Centre on Thursday the 13th of November, and Doors will open at 9.30am, young people can get information from the jobs and benefit office in Bangor or from Charter NI or on my Face Book page. This is a Fantastic opportunity for those looking to further their Training or Careers.”
