Alex Easton MLA has today expressed concern after discovering some grit boxes are being used rubbish bins.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“I was really shocked when I was checking the grit box on the Canneyreagh Road in Donaghadee had been refilled due to the previous Weather to discover it was being used instead for rubbish collection. What makes it more disappointing is that there is a bin 30 meters away. The importance of grit bins are to help make it safe on hills and footpaths during snowy or severe icy periods, and by putting rubbish in such quantity over the top of the grit will put residents off using the grit when it is really needed. I would appeal for people to use the local bin for their rubbish, and not the much needed grit boxes.”
