ALEX EASTON MLA DELIGHTED AT SIF FUNDING FOR THE NORTH DOWN AND STRANGFORD AREAS.

Alex Easton MLA was today delighted to hear the news of much needed funding that is coming to the North Down and Strangford Area to help with Educational transition.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

I am delighted to hear the good news that The Together for Families Ards & North Down Partnership have announced the success of gaining just over £800,000 funding for the area through the OFMDFM Social Investment Fund.

This funding will see the delivery of three programmes aimed at improving the transition for children between nursery to primary and from primary to post primary school.

The programmes are:

  1. Incredible Years – this is a group based programme that aims to support parents to increase positive interactions with their children.
  1. Partnership with Parents – is a home based parenting support programme designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship and increase the quality of parenting.
  2. Mentorship for Achievement – is a two year school based programme that aims to support young people to be more active in their education. This programme reduces the likelihood of young people disengaging in school.

This will see much needed funding to help deliver much needed funding to help children in their development and transition from nursery to primary and from primary to post primary school. This can often be a big step for children and to help with this we have now three excellent programmes.
