Alex Easton MLA has today called for further investment in the North Down Holywood to Bangor Costal path.

Speaking today Alex Easton MLA said:

“Having walked from Holywood to Bangor along the costal path on Saturday after a Sponsored Walk, I was suitably impressed by the works to improve the costal path. However while the investments so far is fantastic from Bangor to Helensbay and indeed some stretches from Helensbay to Holywood such as the new bridge way. There are still large parts of the path that need investment to bring it up to a standard that would make the Costal path a major tourism attraction and walk. I also believe that having monitored the path as I walked along I noticed that from the Bangor to Helensbay stretch, that there was No dog fouling this is due to the many dog fouling bins and signage provided, however from the Helensbay stretch to Holywood there was frequent dog fouling with hardly any dog fouling bins or signage. I am today calling for Dog Fouling bins to be placed every mile from the Helensbay stretch of the costal path and signage to Holywood. I am also calling for a ten year investment plan by Council to do a stretch of the costal path from Helensbay onwards to Holywood so that we can have the entire costal paths made into the most attractive sea walk in Northern Ireland which will boost Tourism and give the borough the best walking facility.”
